TUCSON, AZ – SEPTEMBER 16, 2009 – You can “Feel the Fight” in Tucson on Friday, October 9 at Hi-Corbett Field. Mixed Marshall Arts (MMA) cage fighters will square off in 13 fights, featuring five professional bouts and eight amateur contests.
This National Cage Fighting (NCF) event is sanctioned by the Arizona Boxing Commission and brings full-contact cage fighting to Tucson. The fights will be governed by Unified MMA Rules, with fighters using closed fists, knees and elbows.
“The biggest fight card in Tucson starts with men looking to be the next big thing, and culminates with not one, but two main events,” said NCF Principal, Jay Zucker. “If you’re a fight fan, you will not forget this Friday night experience. It’s close to home, and you can attend for less than a night out at the movies.”
Respected and well-known cage-fighting referee, Herb Dean, will oversee the NCF MMA fights. Dean has refereed more than 3,500 fights, is a former cage fighter himself, and is on the hit Spike TV show The Ultimate Fighter® and Showtime Elite Extreme Combat®.
“It’s not every event where people come to watch the referee, but you’ll want to come see Herb,” said Zucker.
Frankie J., Latin Pop and Top 40 singer, will kick off “Feel the Fight” with the national anthem. He has had several hits including his album, The One, which went platinum.
